It has been all that, lately . . .

Sorry it has been so long since I posted anything but life has been super busy and super emotional. A week after my last post a dear friend at church had surgery to remove a tumor that was termed as terminal in 2007. That same night our pastor announced to us that he has lymphoma B-cell and then last week announced that it is mantle cell lyphoma and he is going to a specialist in Emory in Atlanta this week to determine what to do next. Please pray for him, his wife, his doctors and his family during this time! And for our church! You can visit his caring bridge site at www.caringbridge.org/visit/caringbridge.org Thanks!

As for the weight loss . . . it's had it's moments. I am very much an emotional eater so the last few weeks I have munched a lot, but I have lost two pounds. Started back on the walking/running today and I'm going to check into some of the Wii exercise things as well as the Slim in 6, so let me know if you have tried any of those.

God Bless You all!!

P. S. 12 days off school left - well, plus 3 teacher work days - and then out for summer!

Wow!! The last two days I have been trying to build up to running by doing these walk six minutes/run one minute sessions. Oh my goodness! Talk about getting the endorphins flowing! Definently going to have to grab a new pair of running shoes because my old ones aren't cutting it. The first one minute sprint, I didn't even look at the stopwatch. The second time I started it, but didn't look at it until I finished the same stretch of road that I ran before. When I looked, I saw that it took me 1 min 34 secs to run that stretch! So that added a combined extra minute-and-a-half to my running! Yee Haw!

There are a lot of "big" events coming up - my 15th class reunion this summer and then our girls beach trip in September. The goal is 20 lbs by the reunion and maybe maybe 50 by September. I know I can do it!

Welcome to my blog!

I decided to create this blog to be more "accountable" to myself because I am having a hard time sticking to healthy eating and consistent exercise. I thought a blog that people are reading with "numbers" on it might provide some great motivation. I may also post some crafty things I've done or other things from time to time. It's just going to be about my life and the things I love/like/care about . . . hence the name "all that and a bowl of GRITS". For those of you that are not from the South GRITS stands for "Girl(s) Raised In The South" - and that is me to a T!!
